For 6- & 7-String in Standard & Uniform Tunings The Standard Tuning employs both major thirds and perfect fourths between strings. Unfortunately, this produces an irregular pitch matrix on the fretboard. The uniform tunings (All Fourths and Major Thirds) have the advantage of more-regular and therefore more-easily-learned and -used patterns. In addition, the Major Thirds Tuning is advantageous to close voicings of chords and management of multiple, independent lines at once.
